Frequently asked questions
How voting and payments work on AyamVote, for voters and for organisers.
About AyamVote
What is AyamVote?
AyamVote is an online voting platform for awards, pageants, campus competitions and similar events in Ghana. An organiser sets up an event with categories and contestants, and the public votes by paying for votes through the event's voting link. AyamVote provides the voting and payment platform; the organiser runs the competition itself and sets its rules.
What kinds of events can use AyamVote?
Awards, pageants, campus competitions and other contests where the public votes for contestants in one or more categories. An organiser can also collect public nominations first, and a nomination only becomes a contestant once the organiser approves it.
Voting
How do I vote?
Open the voting link the organiser shared, choose a category and a contestant, and choose how many votes you want. Enter an email address for your receipt, check the total, and pay on the payment provider's page. Your votes are added once the payment is confirmed.
Do I need an account to vote?
No. You vote through the organiser's link directly, with nothing to sign up for. Only organisers have AyamVote accounts.
How much does a vote cost?
The organiser sets the price per vote. A service fee and a payment fee may be added, and the full total is shown before you pay. Nothing is added afterwards.
Can I vote more than once?
Yes. Each payment is a separate order, and you can place another one while voting is open. The organiser sets the smallest and largest number of votes allowed in one order.
Can I change or cancel a vote?
No. Once a payment is confirmed and its votes are added, they cannot be moved to another contestant or cancelled, and ordinary votes are not refundable. Check the contestant and the number of votes before you pay.
Why am I waiting in a queue?
When a great many people are voting on the same event at once, AyamVote lets voters in a few at a time so that every payment is handled reliably. Keep the page open: it shows your place in the queue and takes you to voting as soon as it is your turn.
What happens if voting is closed or suspended?
The event page says voting is not open, and no new votes can be placed or paid for until it opens again. Votes already counted stay counted, and a payment you started before voting closed is still counted when it is confirmed.
Payments
How can I pay?
Payments are processed by Paystack, by Mobile Money or card. If Paystack has problems during an event, AyamVote may move payments to SeevPlus, which takes Mobile Money only. The checkout page shows the provider and the ways to pay before you pay.
When is my vote counted?
As soon as the payment provider confirms your payment, which usually takes a few seconds. A vote is never counted from a payment attempt alone, only from a confirmed payment.
What does "Payment still processing" mean?
The payment provider has not confirmed your payment yet; some payment methods take a little longer. Your votes are added automatically once it is confirmed, even if you close the page, and you can reload the page to check again. If the payment is not completed, no votes are added.
I paid, but my votes have not appeared. What should I do?
Reload your payment page first, since confirmation can take a little while. If your votes still have not appeared, contact AyamVote through the contact form on the home page with your order reference, which starts with VOTE- and is shown on your receipt. A payment that was taken but not credited is investigated.
How does AyamVote handle my payment details?
You enter card numbers and Mobile Money PINs with the payment provider, and they never reach AyamVote. For each order AyamVote keeps what it needs to process it, such as the email address for your receipt and the payment reference. Results show vote totals for contestants, not who voted.
Results
Can I see the results?
It depends on the event. The organiser decides whether results are shown live, only after voting closes, or not at all. When they are shown, you can follow them one category at a time on the event's results page.
For organisers
How do I run a voting event on AyamVote?
Create an organiser account, then set up your event: its categories, contestants and price per vote. Connect and verify your payout account, which paid voting needs before it can open. Then open voting and share your event's voting link.
How do organisers receive the money?
Each payment is split when the voter pays: the organiser's share goes to the organiser's own payout account through the payment provider, and AyamVote does not hold it. When it arrives in the account is set by the payment provider. Your commission and fees are shown in your dashboard before you open voting.
